Stark Goldface 250mm x 2mm x 32mm HSS TiN Coated Cold Saw Blade for cutting mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and non-ferrous metals. These HSS DMo5 (M2) high quality cold saw blades are made from super high speed wolfram-molybdenum steel (SHSS), with a TiN (Titanium-Nitride) pvd coating for increased wear resistance and cutting performance.
The Goldface TiN coating allows machining at cutting speeds and feeds 50% higher than an uncoated blade; this decreases cutting times, reduces blade changes and significantly increases overall tool life.

Goldface PVD Coating - TiN (Titanium-Nitride)
Goldface features a PVD coating of a few microns that gives the blade a high surface hardness. The low thermal conductivity protects the substrate from localised overheating. The rather low coefficient of friction, together with the high surface hardness, reduce the formation of the carryover cutting edge. The high oxidation temperature combined with the other characteristics allows machining at cutting speeds and feeds 50% higher than an uncoated blade; this decreases cutting times, reduces blade changes and significantly increases overall tool life.
Quality of Steel
HSS/DMo5 (M2) - DIN 1.3343 - Super-fast wolfram-molybdenum steel. These elements provide high mechanical properties while maintaining excellent toughness. Molybdenum (Mo), present in a percentage of 5%, significantly reduces brittleness, promotes the formation of a very fine martensitic grain; it increases the yield strength and consequently the mechanical strength, thus improving shear characteristics. Wolfram (W), present at a rate of 6.4 per cent, is an excellent hard carbide formulator; it contributes to improving blade toughness mainly by preventing grain swelling. It increases tensile strength and especially wear resistance at high operating temperatures, thus improving cutting capacity. In addition to these main elements, Vanadium (V) is also present at a rate of 1.9 per cent, which makes the grain finer by helping to form hard carbides that improve wear resistance.
