MS 300 C-M VW Petrol Chainsaw: high-performance professional chainsaw with exceptional power-to-weight ratio & electrically heated handle
The STIHL MS 300 C-M is a professional petrol chainsaw developed for foresters, arborists and demanding users who need a powerful, lightweight and easy-to-handle saw for everyday forestry work. Replacing the popular MS 261 C-M, the MS 300 C-M has been completely redeveloped to deliver exceptional performance in the 50 cc chainsaw class. With a powerhead weighing just 4.8 kg, a 53.3 cc engine and 3.3 kW power output, it offers an outstanding power-to-weight ratio for fast and effortless pruning, processing timber, cutting firewood and felling small to medium-sized trees.
The MS 300 C-M VW has an electrically heated handle whch makes working in cold temperatures more comfortable by providing better grip and working safety. The maintenance-free and wear-free heating films in the handlebar and rear handle can be switched on whenever needed. The electrically heated carburettor has a temperature-dependent on and off control which prevents the carburettor from icing up during winter use too.
Using the latest STIHL M-Tronic 3.0 engine management system, the MS 300 C-M automatically adjusts fuel metering and ignition timing to deliver optimum engine performance in all working conditions. Combined with the STIHL 2-MIX engine, this ensures reliable and easy starting, reduced fuel consumption and strong cutting performance. Thanks to its larger engine, the MS 300 C-M delivers 15% more torque than the MS 261 C-M, helping the saw maintain cutting speed in thicker wood with less risk of bogging down mid-cut. Rapid chain acceleration, comparable with the fuel-injected MS 500i, takes the chain from 0 to 100 km/h in just 0.25 seconds. The STIHL .325" RS Pro saw chain together with the STIHL Light 04 guide bar provide excellent cutting performance and precise handling, helping you work faster and more accurately.
Designed with professional users in mind, the MS 300 C-M combines a compact body, low gyroscopic forces and improved rear handle geometry for exceptional handling during felling, limbing, snedding and plunge cutting. Parallel plunge-cutting direction lines on the fan housing and a vertical felling line help to guide the saw, providing greater accuracy and control. The wide knee support and STIHL anti-vibration system make the MS 300 C-M comfortable to use during long working days.
The MS 300 C-M also includes a range of practical features designed to minimise interruptions during working and make maintenance easier. These include:
- An easy-to-access adjustable oil pump allows quick adjustment of oil flow using a standard combination tool.
- A 50% fuel level marker provides a fast visual indication of when a refill is needed.
- An optimised rib pattern on the underside helps the saw glide more smoothly along tree trunks during snedding and reduces dirt build-up, making the machine easier to clean.
- A long-life HD2 air filter system with pre-separation extends service intervals and reduces maintenance downtime.
- The STIHL Ematic system delivers oil exactly where it is needed, reducing oil consumption by up to 50% while maintaining optimum lubrication of the guide bar and chain.
Standard Features:
Side-Mounted Chain Tensioning
Side-mounted chain tensioning allows for protected, easy and quick chain tensioning and replacement. The tensioning screw is inserted laterally through the sprocket cover.
Stihl M-Tronic
With STIHL M-Tronic, you’ll have the best performance from your work tool from the outset. Fully electronic engine management regulates the ignition timing and fuel metering in all work situations, taking into account external conditions such as temperature, altitude and fuel quality.
Carburetor Heating
Thanks to electric carburettor heating, you can work without interruption even in frosty weather conditions. You do not need to keep an eye on the temperature, as the heating element activates automatically at critical temperatures thanks to temperature-dependent switch-on and switch-off controls. The heater then heats up the carburettor to prevent freezing.
Electrically Heated Handles
The electric heating can be easily switched on as required. This means that your hands stay warm even in cold weather and you keep a secure grip on your power tool. The handle heating system consists of maintenance-free and wear-free heating elements.
Variable-Displacement Oil Pump
The controlled-delivery oil pump reduces your chainsaw’s oil consumption by up to 50%. To use it, simply select the E position. For very long cutting attachments or very dry wood, an additional oil volume can be set by the user.
Long-Life Air Filter System for Chainsaws
Pre-separation routing removes coarse, larger particles from the airstream before they can reach the actual filter. The HD2 filter keeps even fine dust away from the engine, ensuring a long engine service life, long cleaning intervals and easy maintenance of your chainsaw. When we refer to a long-life air filter system in chainsaws, this exclusively describes models that have pre-separation routing and an HD2 filter. With this system, you benefit from a significantly longer filter service life compared to conventional air filter systems.
HD2 Filter
The HD2 filter protects your power tool’s engine against even the finest dust, ensuring a longer service life and reduced wear. The filter made from PET material has up to 70% finer pores than fleece and polyamide filters, and is also oil- and water-repellent. This also makes it easier to clean the filter. When needed, the filter cartridge can be easily replaced without tools.
Compensator
The compensator is a control system in the carburettor, which uses pressure compensation to ensure that engine performance, exhaust gas quality and fuel consumption remain virtually constant over a long period of time, despite increasing contamination of the air filter. You do not need to clean the air filter until there is a noticeable drop in performance. This means that you can work for a long time without maintenance.
Tool-Free Oil Tank
Thanks to the bayonet closure, you can open and close the tool-free fuel cap in just a few simple steps.
Excellent Power-To-Weight Ratio
Thanks to modern techniques, the use of lightweight materials and compact design, this power tool has a very good power-to-weight ratio. This means that you can work particularly effortlessly, without having to forgo high performance.
Stihl Ematic System
The STIHL Ematic system comprises a STIHL Ematic or Ematic S guide bar, a STIHL Oilomatic saw chain and a controlled-delivery oil pump. It ensures that the chain oil gets to where it is needed for lubrication. This allows you to reduce oil consumption by up to 50%. If you often work in dusty conditions or if you use long guide bars, you can quickly and easily increase the oil quantity at any time with the new oil pump system.
Carburettor Heating (V)
Thanks to carburettor preheating, you can work reliably with your chainsaw even in winter. You can change the operation from summer to winter mode in just one simple step. In the winter setting, pre-heated intake air flows around the carburettor, preventing it from icing up.
Captive Nuts
The nuts are attached to the sprocket cover in a captive manner. This makes it impossible for the nuts to fall off and get lost when the cover is removed.
Advanced Combustion Technology
Thanks to STIHL four-channel technology, you can work with your power tool with very low fuel consumption and high performance. The four overflow channels guide the fuel-and-air mixture into the cylinder in a targeted and more compressed manner, which optimally burns the fuel and significantly increases the performance of the engine.
Plunge-Cut Guide Lines
The nuts are attached to the sprocket cover in a captive manner. This makes it impossible for the nuts to fall off and get lost when the cover is removed.
Manual Decompression
The decompression valve makes it easier to start your power tool. When starting, you can allow some of the compressed mixture to escape from the cylinder by opening the valve. This protects the start-up system and reduces the amount of force required on the starter cord.
Combi Lever with Stop Function
The machine requires only one starting position on the combi lever, making operation simpler and more intuitive. When the machine is switched off, the stop function automatically returns the control lever to the operating position. This enables a warm engine to be restarted quickly without any additional adjustments.
Stihl 2-Mix Engine
With the STIHL 2-MIX engine, you can reduce exhaust emissions and fuel consumption, and therefore operating costs. This 2-stroke engine is low-maintenance and uses fuel efficiently even at high power levels. Use a mixture of petrol and engine oil as fuel. The STIHL 2-MIX engine complies with the strict EU Stage V emissions directive.
Stihl Anti-Vibration System
Vibrations can occur when you put your power tools through their paces, and these are particularly noticeable in the grip area. The buffer and spring elements of the STIHL anti-vibration system reduce the transmission of vibrations to the handle area and therefore to your body. The result is that your power tool is more comfortable to hold and your work is much less tiring.
